Respect for natural farming practices and methods is just as important as animal welfare in organic farming. Farmers comply with an Organic specification, supplemented by a PGI specification (Protected Geographical Indication). The pigs we select are raised exclusively on organic farms in South-West France and are fed plant-based products supplied directly by the farm, also from organic farming. The pigs are raised in semi free-range conditions and enjoy all the benefits (air quality, a more varied diet, space, freedom of movement, etc.). Farm size is limited, reducing the risk of diseases that could infect the herd. The animals are less stressed, less aggressive, and “soil trampling”, due to use of a restricted area and which promotes erosion, is minimized.
